General Information
The Business Studies department endeavours to deliver a clear curriculum to the students at KS4 and KS5 which helps them to understand the real working world. This is achieved by our choice of syllabuses (which are outlined below) and through our lessons, where we generally try to link the real world to the theory taught in the classroom, through case studies, discussions and where possible practical exercises.
Key Stage 4
We currently offer one course to pupils in Year 10 and 11, which is the BTEC First Diploma in Business. This course consists of 4 units, all of which have a practical connection to the real world. Assessment is carried out through a mixture of an online examination for one unit and internally assessed assignments for the other three units. The units studied are:
Unit 1 Enterprise in the Business World
Unit 2 Finance for Business
Unit 3 Promoting and Brand
Unit 8 Recruitment, Selection and Employment
Key Stage 5
We currently offer BTEC National level 3 courses, both the Diploma and the Subsidiary Diploma. The courses are assessed by both internally assessed assignments and external examinations and the number of units studied depends on the course being studied. Some of the units studied are:
