Six St. Bede’s Year 12 students have been accepted onto the prestigious Oxnet course administered by Pembroke College, Oxford. As only 25 places were available for students in the whole for the North East of England, the fact that almost a quarter of the places were won by one school is a major educational landmark.
There were three successful students for each route:
· Hollie Akers- Philosophy and World Religions
· Anna Gilfoyle – Philosophy and World Religions
· Isobel Marshall – Philosophy and World Religions
· Tom Hilton – The Ordered Universe
· Erin White – The Ordered Universe
Amy Wilkinson- The Ordered Universe I think Oxnet is a brilliant opportunity for me to develop new skills and experience what university is like first hand. Its great that the seminars will be led by some of those at the top of their field – Amy Wilkinson
Isobel Marshall “Oxnet allows you to break barriers in your learning, giving you an advantage in education that goes beyond the curriculum.”
Anya Gilfoyle : “Oxnet allows you to develop sets of arguments and provide you with a set of skills that prepare you for University.”
Martin Old, St. Bede’s Oxnet Coordinator said, “We are delighted that our students performed so well. This year was the most competitive in the ten year history of Oxnet. Winning prizes and scholarships such as this can transform someone’s life and can instil the belief and confidence to strive for the very best.
