Feeder Primary Schools

St. Bede’s works in close partnership with 10 Catholic feeder primaries as part of the  Association of Roman Catholic Heads in East Durham (ARCHED group), yet we welcome students from over 20 primary schools.

As part of our highly praised transition programme the number of families looking to join our community is rising year on year.

Ofsted confirmed the exceptional transition arrangements we make for new students and they rated us ‘outstanding’ in many areas including pupil safety and communication with parents / home.

We have an ongoing programme which starts in September of the new academic year starting with assemblies and pupil presentations in local primary schools. Throughout the year we have staff meetings and pupil projects / activities which give students many opportunities to become familiar with the school.

We have a series of visits for year 5 and year 6 students every year and a series of workshops in June for parents and students. Parents are regularly informed and invited to events in order for them to be a part of our community well before they officially start in September.

We also have face to face meetings where specialist staff (including SENCO’s and TA’s) talk about students in order to best meet their needs and interests. It is imperative that all students and their families are prepared and happy in order for them to reach their full potential – at St. Bede’s no stone is left unturned to achieve that.

If you want further information about our primary links, admissions arrangements or you would like a tour of our magnificent new £16 million school, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
