

May I begin by wishing you all a happy New Year and thanking you for your understanding during the extreme weather at the start of term.
We welcome to the staff Miss Gemma Brown who joins the PE department and Mrs Adeline Charlton who joins the MFL department. I’m sure they will both add further success to their departments.

The group raised a grand total of £98. They also staged a Staff soup lunch that raised another £132 in donations.
Soup was the main dish of the day at St Bede’s on Family Fast Day last term. A big thankyou to Mrs Carr, Miss Iley and Mr Taylor for making the soup that was enjoyed by all. …green bean, butternut squash, cream of vegetable, spicy tomato, leek and potato. The school’s efforts raised £200 for CAFOD! Below Mrs Carr in action!
St Bede’s Traditional Carols by Candlelight evening was a great success helped by Murton Colliery Band at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Peterlee.
Staff and students from St Bede’s were joined by students from Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School and parishioners from the Deanery. A creditable retiring collection totalling £175 to support Murton Colliery Band was made.
The SVP Ambassadors’ group has arrived at St Bede’s!
Students from Years 7-13 have formed an SVP Ambassadors’ Group which aims to provide various activities, led by students from Yr10+, for younger students during lunchtime.
is now up and running and is increasing in popularity. There is a wide selection of reading material suitable for all ages and tastes however, if you do not find anything you like feel free to suggest books/resources to be purchased.
The first round of training Student Library Helpers is currently taking place and they are able to assist and help at break times and lunchtimes.
As part of the Youth team, St Bede’s students and a staff member had the opportunity to assist in a very practical way with the pilgrims in Lourdes, assisting with their needs including pushing wheelchairs around the slopes and hills, in which in some cases are quite steep.
This term Art students went on a trip to Belsay Hall in Northumbria. The students went to visit Designer Stella McCartney's stunning chandelier in the form of a huge leaping horse.
