The PE department is an established department with high levels of sporting success. Results have significantly improved over recent years and GCSE PE has a 100% pass rate. Other qualifications such as the Entry Level Certificate also has a 100% pass rate and students have the opportunity to achieve a wide range of sporting qualifications such as the Sports Leaders Level 1 Award (JSLA).
The department offers a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities with all of the major activities represented for both boys and girls, as well as activities such as cheerleading, rowing, swimming, biathlon and cross country. The department offers a range of intra-school sports opportunities also.
The department has excellent facilities including a large sports hall and extensive fields and a multi-weather area. Equipment for all activities on the curriculum is excellent and is available for every pupil.
The department are part of the SSCo Partnership.
Key Stage 3
In year 7 , 8 and 9 students receive two lessons per week.
Students follow the National Curriculum and participate in a wide range of activities such as football, dance, rugby (league and union), badminton, gymnastics, athletics, table tennis, health-related exercise, cricket, basketball, netball and rounders.
Key Stage 4
Students receive one lesson per week and are offered a range of pathways to select which suits their interest.
In year 10 students are offered the opportunity to achieve the Sports Leaders Level 1 Award or the Entry Level Certificate.
Key Stage 5
Students have the opportunity to achieve the BTEC Sport Level 3 Award.
