Dear Parent/ Carer,
As we come to the end of another term, I would like to thank you for your continued support in ensuring that our high standards are maintained. To ensure this is continually met we have undertaken the decision to restrict the use of mobile phones exclusively to Sixth Form students from January 7th 2019. Pupils in Year 7-11 who have devices switched on and in sight or found using them on site will have phones confiscated and held securely at reception until a parent/ carer can collect them. This change in policy only affects students in Years 10 and 11 who have previously enjoyed this privilege at lunch time. The revised school mobile phone policy is on our website should you wish to view it.
As a Christmas reward for pupils, we have decided to book the cinema to come into school on Wednesday 19th December. We understand the additional financial pressures that this time of year can put on families, and feel that costly excursions increase this. With this in mind, we are hiring Trylight Productions for the full day and will be operating three separate screenings dependant on the age of the audience.
We would like to request a voluntary £2 donation to help us facilitate this, as the screen, projector and surround sound are all of cinematic quality. This approach enables every pupil to experience the magic of the big screen at a small price. Our Business Studies Sixth Form students will be operating a tuck shop with a maximum spend of £1 per pupil. Asda have very generously donated all of the popcorn for the day.
Wednesday 19th December is also the annual Christmas jumper day. Pupils wishing to participate may wear a festive jumper with their full school uniform. We are also serving full Christmas dinner on this day and our catering team would appreciate an indication of whether your son/ daughter will be making that hot meal choice.
The annual Year 7 Christmas party is held on the afternoon of Thursday 20th December. Pupils will have the opportunity to get dressed into their party clothes and enjoy a disco and party games.
Friday 21st December is our end of term services and school buses will arrive at 12.00 pm for an early student dismissal for the Christmas holidays. We encourage pupils to try to attend a church service during this most holy time of year.
Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
